Women leaders from 10 wards in Oke Ero Local Government Area protested against the alleged imposition of Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates by the APC on Thursday.
The protest began at the APC party secretariat in Iloffa and ended at the Oke Ero Local Government Council headquarters.
The women, led by Jegede Modupe, Afolayan Omolola, and Hon. Aminat Yusuf Oduola, expressed their dissatisfaction with the imposed candidates, stating they are not the people’s choice and were not voted for during the primary election.
They accused powerful politicians of attempting to oppress them through imposition.
The women threatened to cast a protest vote on election day, September 21st, if their demands are not met.
They appealed to the governor to intervene and address the situation, ensuring their democratic rights are respected.
“This is not a fight, but a call for our democratic rights to be respected,” Hon. Aminat emphasized. “We have confidence that the governor will not support oppression.”
