The Kwara State Government has ended the industrial unrest between the Ilorin East Council Area, it’s Contractor on Abatior Market and the New Investor over indebtedness inherited from the past administration to the tune of over Twelve Million Naira (12,000,000).
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Arc. Aliyu Muhammed Saifuddeen disclosed this in a meeting with the relevant Stakeholders when signing the addendum on the existing Memorandum of Understanding between Ilorin East Local Government,The Contractor and The New Investor.
The Commissioner in his narration disclosed that the previous government had engageg the service of a Contractor through the outlawed Joint Project Account,(kwara State Government and Ilorin East Local Government) to build a new Ultra-Modern Abattior at Akerebiata Market with agreed terms and conditions,while the Contractor had fulfilled his own parts of the agreement since 2009 in which the project was commissioned in the year 2010,while the then Government renege on his own terms in payment as agreed.
“In his words,since we all agreed Government is a continum,in inheritance of both asset and liability “,he decried the quantum of bad debts the previous Government left behind for the present administration to attend to.
He however assured that the Present administration under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdul razak will continue to attend to the enormous debts the previous administration left behind ranging from humongous Salary Arrears,and over Nineteen Billion Naira(19billion) in Pension arrears among others.
Arc Aliyu thanked the Contractor for his Patience and perseverance for the injustice done to him by the last administration and also commended him over unconditional waiver given to the Government.
He equally thanked the leadership of Kwara State House of Assembly under the leadership of Speaker, Hon Danladi Umar for her intervention.
In his remark,the Contractor, Arc Ahmed Mudi of FASAHA Ventures (Nig) Ltd thanked GOD for sparing his life to witness the final payment and thanked the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak for the restoration of lost glory in Governance.
He also thanked the Kwara State House of Assembly Members for looking to his issue with human face.
