Kwara Deputy Gov, Kayode Alabi presents Staff of office to new traditional rulers

 

Kwara State Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi on Wednesday presented the staff of office to the newly appointed traditional rulers in Ekiti and Ifelodun local government respectively.

The third class staff of the office was presented to Alara of Isare Opin in Ekiti LG, HRH Owolabi Kayode Michael ( JP) while the Fourth class staff of the office presented to Onisapa of Isapa in Ekiti LG, HRH Oba Oluwagbenga Adefioye and Alahun of Ahun Igbomina in Ifelodun LG, Oba Afeere Idowu Ogunleye (JP) Ilufemiloye III

In his speech, the deputy governor of the state ably represented by the honourable commissioner for local government, chieftaincy affairs and community development, Hon Dr Aliyu Kora Sabi, urged the new traditional rulers to use their position to promote peace, tranquillity and progress among their subjects.

“There is no doubt that royal fathers are well respected and highly revered. They are veritable tools for grassroots mobilisation, cohesion, and socio-economic and political development. They are the custodians of tradition and culture for the people, and readily available to assist their subjects in the resolution of conflicts,”

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of local government, chieftaincy affairs and community development, Mr Modupe Adekeye who speaks on behalf of the commissioner, charges the new traditional rulers to rule with fairness, equity and justice, don’t see those who vied for this position with you as your enemies, treat everyone equally because you are now a father for all

In their respective submissions, the President of each community commended the state government for upholding the customs and enjoining the state government to bring more developmental projects to their communities

They all vowed to support the monarchs in discharging their duties and promised to be ambassadors of peace and harmony

The event was graced by top government functionaries, members of the Kwara state house of assembly, APC party leaders among others
