The Kwara State Government has announced that there would be total restriction of human and vehicular movements during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise holding on Saturday.
The restriction of movement, according to a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh would, however, not affect those on essential duties, including health workers, journalists, and law enforcement agents.
The statement, which indicated that the exercise would hold between 7 am and 9 am on Saturday, warned against the violation of the environmental sanitation law as deviants would face severe penalties.
It reads, “This is to inform the general public that the monthly sanitation exercise for February will hold on Saturday 26th, 2022 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am.
Members of the public are hereby enjoined to fully participate in the sanitation exercise by cleaning their residential and business environments.
Everybody is expected to stay at home to clean up their surroundings.
The monitoring agencies will be on the ground to monitor compliance and it will be strictly observed across all the 16 Local Government Areas in the State.
According to a release issued by the Ministry of Environment, there will be no vehicular and human movement except those on essential services.
Violators of Environmental Laws during the sanitation exercise would be tried and sanctioned by Mobile Courts stationed at designated points across the State.
Waste management trucks will be on the street for waste collection and disposal to the final dumpsite during the exercise in the Ilorin metropolis.”
The statement, therefore, enjoined shop owners, market men, and women, security operatives, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria, the Association of Commercial Motorcycle Riders of Nigeria, and the general public to comply with this directive.
