The 16 Local Government Area (LGA) Party Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have declared their unwavering support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, passing a vote of confidence on his leadership and warning against premature politicking ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The declaration was made following a strategic meeting held at the Ilorin West APC Secretariat on Saturday, May 10, 2025, under the coordination of Hon. Jimba Abdulkadir.

In a jointly signed statement issued after the meeting and made available to Just Event Online TV , the party secretaries commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his visible and impactful achievements across key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, social welfare, and youth empowerment.

“His Excellency has repositioned Kwara for sustainable growth and development. His achievements have rekindled public confidence in governance,” the statement read.

The secretaries also praised the state APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, for fostering party unity and stability, and acknowledged the Kwara APC Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Ishowo, for his inclusive and supportive leadership at the grassroots.

However, the group expressed concern over what it described as “unhealthy political distractions” stemming from early discussions around the 2027 governorship race. They urged political stakeholders to allow Governor AbdulRazaq to focus on governance without undue pressure or politicking.

“The cacophony of premature talks about succession and zoning politics is not only unnecessary but harmful to the smooth delivery of governance. Zoning remains a matter solely within the prerogative of the party leadership and our leader, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” they emphasized.

The party secretaries called on the APC leadership to take disciplinary action against those already engaging in early campaigns, describing such acts as potentially destabilizing.

Reaffirming their loyalty to the party and the governor, the secretaries pledged to work as a united bloc to strengthen the APC at the grassroots level, ensure discipline, and continue mobilizing support for the party across the 16 LGAs of the state.
