In a public lecture in Ilorin, Ustadh Sulaiman Shuaib Dagbo, an Islamic scholar, has called for collective action against social vices in various communities. He emphasized the importance of community and religious leaders, as well as landlords, coming together to address the escalating rates of crimes, indecency, and immoralities in the country.
During this period of school holidays, Ustadh Sulaiman urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and engage them in extra moral classes or vocational studies. He attributed the wave of crimes to the consumption of hard drugs and alcohol, peer influence, lack of proper home training, and widespread poverty.
Religious leaders and Islamic schools were also encouraged to adapt their preaching and teaching methods to tackle societal challenges effectively. Additionally, the cleric urged governments at all levels to implement policies that alleviate the suffering of the masses.
In closing, Ustadh Sulaiman emphasized the significance of adhering to the teachings of the Quran and Hadith and encouraged Muslims to regularly recite and follow their guidance.
