The Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association, (IEYDA), Under the guidance of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR, has taken a proactive stance to protect their beloved city. At a recent stakeholders’ meeting at their association secretariat, the group, led by their national President, Alhaji Babatunde Salaudeen and National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mohamed Uthman Jagunmo, concluded to call on the security operatives in the state.
The body calls the security agencies in the state to protect the city of Ilorin from non-indigenous individuals who are allegedly planning to forment trouble through the celebration of Isese festival.
The youths expressed immense gratitude for the peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst indigenes and residents of Ilorin over countless decades, where cultural and religious practices are embraced with respect. However, they voiced their concern over a potential threat posed by outsiders planning to cause trouble through the Isese festival.
Recognizing the significance of maintaining the city’s cherished peace, the Ilorin Emirate Youths joined forces with other stakeholders in rejecting the planned Ifa/Isese festival by these apparently faceless troublemakers. They emphasized that the festival is alien to the Emirate’s norms and customs.
In an encouraging gesture, the group commends the security agencies in Ilorin, Kwara for their professionalism and dedication to ensuring peace and harmony in the state. They called on the agencies to sustain the momentum of peace and harmony that the emirate is reputed for, fostering an atmosphere where Ilorin Emirate and Kwara can continue to thrive, just as they have done since inception.
In the spirit of togetherness and vigilance, the Ilorin Emirate Youths stands firm in safeguarding the tranquility and heritage of the ancient city, for a brighter and more harmonious future for all.
