The Ilorin Women Association (IWA) has proudly celebrated the remarkable feat of Sanusi Akanbi Kazeem, a 400-level Mathematics student of the University of Ilorin, who recently completed a marathon 31-hour, 42-minute, and 54-second mathematics lesson — now under review by the Guinness World Records.
Kazeem’s outstanding performance surpasses the current record of 26 hours for the longest mathematics lesson. His remarkable session, held at the Basement of the University of Ilorin Auditorium, drew the admiration of students and staff alike, as he maintained clarity, enthusiasm, and focus throughout the rigorous challenge.
A true son of Ilorin, Sanusi exemplified discipline and spiritual devotion by taking only 20-minute breaks every four hours to observe his prayers and briefly refresh.
In a statement jointly signed by Prof. Aishatu Gobir, Coordinator of IWA, and Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, Secretary and made available to Just Event Online TV on Tuesday morning, the association hailed Kazeem as a “Global Ambassador of Scholarship,” applauding his courage, intellectual excellence, and the cultural values he upheld during the challenge.
“We commend not only Sanusi but also his parents, the visionary Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, the Dean of his Faculty, Prof. Baba Alafara, his Head of Department, and his Level Adviser — another illustrious son of Ilorin. We also recognize the committed teachers and support team who stood by him,” the statement read.
The Ilorin Women Association expressed hope that Sanusi’s historic achievement would ignite a wave of academic ambition and righteous pursuit among youths in Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
