Following a plethora of calls and messages reaching him on the recent news making the rounds about a bench warrant issued by a magistrate court on the ongoing case instituted against him by Mr. Bayo Sanni, the immediate past Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Holdings Limited, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulmajeed, has said he had no reason to evade appearance in the court as the matter at hand is one that he would always be proud to maintain his altruistic position on.
In a press statement made available to Just Event Online TV on Friday
While thanking friends and family who have expressed concern, Abdulmajeed appealed for calm and assured that the court is not a place to express brazen manipulation of facts and leverage falsehood to gain cheap media laundry of an image that is suffering from many years of self inflicted destruction. He expressed confidence in the court that it will stand with the truth as an unbiased umpire.
Abdulmajeed further noted with every sense of humility that he would be proud to restate his position on EFCC’s investigation of Mr. Bayo Sanni, who served as Executive Director of the Kwara State investment management company, Harmony Holdings Limited, under former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
He explained that the suit instituted by Sanni was on his statements and avowed crusade in the protection of the common wealth of Kwara people, reiterating he had no reason to evade court summons for such.
The former HHL boss said the notice of court sitting where the motion was moved or granted was not served on him, stating he would have made himself available in the court should he have been duly served.
He also told Sanni to channel his frustration to Nigeria’s anti-graft agency EFCC that confiscated his properties after he was found wanting of malpractices levelled against him.
“It is clear that Mr. Bayo Sanni is only trying to play to the gallery here as he attempts to use media frenzy to launder his image while casting aspertion on my person. The issues are quite clear and I can only be proud to restate my position on EFCC’s investigation of him. I didn’t orchestrate any false news about him nor engage in a defamation of his character. What I did was to re-echo the EFCC on the information released at the press conference that has unsettled Sanni. I am not the author of the information; the EFCC authored it and the evidences to that effect abounds. I only quoted them.
“As far as I am concerned, I am not ashamed of being called to task for the issue at hand. Our role is one of pride as staunch advocates for the protection of our common wealth and prudent and effective managers of our resources when we had the opportunity. Bayo Sanni and his cohorts should compare it to the role they played while they were in the saddle which resulted in their being called to account every now and then, and the one they are currently playing in this debacle where they are trying to peddle falsehood before the court and misinform the public with their cheaply orchestrated campaign of calumny in the media.
We are however not perturbed as we understand that this is the kind of price one pays for standing up for the truth,” he said.
