Grassroots engagement has been described as the best approach toward the growth of democracy in Nigeria, the Candidate of African Democratic Congress ADC, for House of Representatives, to represent Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun federal constituency, Hon. Gbenga Oyekunle Power, stated this on Thursday in a meeting with the people of his constituency where he shared his vision and mission for the 2023 general election
Speaking at the event held at St Michael LGEA Primary School, Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, he said the role of engagement with grassroots is vital because they are the critical stakeholders in the democracy
Speaking of his antecedents, Gbenga Power noted that he has dug 22 boreholes across the three local governments in Offa/Ifelodun/Oyun, Scholarships, and other humanitarian efforts to support the less privileged without being in political office or collecting money from the government
He urged the people of his constituency to have total faith in him, saying, he will not disappoint them if elected
In his magnanimity, he promised to dig 18 boreholes in the three local governments that made up his constituency.
Speaking further he appreciated the people for coming enmass to honour him, as he prayed to God to be with them too
Speaking on behalf of the Hausa, Fulani and Bororo communities in Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, Serikin Fulani of Omupo, Mallam Umar, appreciated him for his immeasurable support without religious bias, and urged him to do more.
On your ambition we are here to let you know that 2023 will be a payback time for all the good things you are have been doing for us, we promised to give you 100% votes, he said
We will vote for you based on your antecedents not on religious bias, he said
On her part, Mrs Elizabeth Opeyemi prayed to God to crown Gbenga Power’s effort
ADC Kwara South Senatorial Candidate, Sen. Makanjuola Ajadi who was ably represented by Hon Jodi Folorunsho commended Gbenga Power for his humanitarian services to the people, as he enjoined them to vote for ADC in the 2023 general election.
