The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) marked a significant milestone on Saturday with its 10th Annual Empowerment program as it empowered indigent with items worth over 7 million Naira.
In his opening address IEYDA National President, Alh Babatunde Salaudeen restated that the association is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs, students, the aged, widows, youth artisans, and the less privileged.
The association, driven by its commitment to Ilorin’s development, has empowered over 5,000 individuals through various programs since a decade ago
Just Event Online TV reports, Alh Salaudeen said that the 10th annual empowerment event, showed IEYDA’s unwavering commitment to societal betterment.
He urged affluent citizens to support IEYDA in the construction of a Modern National Secretariat for the association.
The event was held on Saturday at forecourt of Emir of Ilorin Palace, Ilorin.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Dr Muhammad Bashir Soliu OON, offered prayers for the success of the association, sponsors, and all indigenes of the Ilorin Emirate. Ge encouraged the beneficiaries to contribute positively to the community’s well-being.
In a powerful sermon, the Grand Mufti of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa OON, spoke on the importance of community love. He urged the people of Ilorin to engage in activities that promote community progress, emphasizing the need to eliminate poverty through collective efforts.
Commending IEYDA for its empowerment initiatives, the Grand Mufti called on other well-meaning Ilorites to emulate the association for the community’s betterment.
The empowerment items distributed included containers, sewing machines, grinding machines, complete sets of hairdressing and barbing salon equipment, computer sets, and packs of soft drinks, among others.
The event also featured award presentations and certificates of Commendation to prominent Islamic Scholars in Ilorin for the propagation of Islamic messages
