The prime suspect in the gruesome murder of a 45-year-old woman, (whose identity had not been revealed by the police), has confessed to being the mastermind of the dastardly act.

The suspect, Bankole Oginni, who was arrested on Tuesday, by the Ondo State Police Command, for killing his ex-lover, said he dismembered her body out of fear.

Oginni disclosed this in a viral video suspected to have been recorded during the interrogation of the suspect in the police custody.

In the two minutes 56 seconds video, the suspect said the injuries on the body of the deceased which he inflicted on her were as a result of him being scared after the deceased died in his house.

He said, “I have been helping her for a long time and I asked her to come to my daddy’s house. When she came, I bought two bottles of Coca-Cola. She had not started taking it when she slumped and I was scared. It was because of that I was scared and that made me take the decision I took.

“I poured hot water on her hoping it would revive her. I cut her open hoping to dump her somewhere because I was scared. I removed the private parts and the intestines. I put them inside a bag.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was found with her body dismembered.

Odunlami added that the matter had been taken over by the Criminal Investigation Department of the command, adding that investigation was still ongoing into the incident.

She said, “The victim was found dead in the house of the suspect while some parts of her body had been removed.

“The matter has been transferred to the CID and the investigation is still ongoing. The matter has been transferred to the CID and the investigation is still ongoing.

On how the victim was found, the PPRO said it was the daughter of the deceased that reported the matter, after seeing the lifeless body of her mother tied down with a rope and some parts of her body removed in the suspect’s house located at Oke Aro area of Akure, the state capital, on Sunday.

She said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at a hospital morgue while investigations began.

She said, “A lady reported at the station that her mother’s ex-lover, Bankole Oginni, called and invited her (deceased) over to his place at the Oke Aro area of Akure and after she left for his house, she did not return and her phone was switched off.

“She traced her mother to the house, only to find her lifeless body in the room of the ex-lover, her legs and hands tied and her body opened with the intestines removed. Also, there were patches on her (the deceased) body that showed signs of hot water burns.

“The suspect who claimed to be a footballer is already in our custody while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.”
