In a bid to further ensure adequate comfort of the entire students in Kwara State, the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, Kwara State Axis, under the watch of Comr. Saleeman Yusuf Issah AAT, ACA, had engaged in a tête-à-tête discussion with the management of Kwara State Polytechnic, ilorin vis-à-vis the sky-high hostel accommodation fee levied against the Students of the institution.

Recall that few weeks back, the management of Kwara State Polytechnic, ilorin had set the monetary payment to be charged for the newly renovated hostels within the school campus to a sum of #40,000, an amount which appeared to be substantial and exorbitant. Consequently, the leadership of the students’ apex body in Kwara, alongside the Students Union executives of the institution swift into action by making a demand for the reduction of the price to a more befitting one that would be comfortable for the students concerned.
However, after a robust dialogue with the management, the earlier announced price was unanimously agreed to be reduced by 13%, thereby leaving it to a sum of #35,000 per student. Meanwhile, it is important to note that the hostel fee payment remains compulsory, only, for the newly admitted ND 1 and HND 1 students. This development is deemed necessary following its significant influence in mitigating the insecurity of the students to the minimal level as accurate and adequate security measures are assured to be put in place.
In view of the above, we hereby emphatically appreciate the management of the institution for being proactive and responsive to the students’ demands as we urge the entire students of Kwara State Polytechnic, ilorin to act in accordance with this new development and proceed to making their payment as at when due.
