The Government Secondary School (GSS) Ilorin old boys’ class of 1999 held a remarkable reunion on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Succoth Garden, Ilorin.

The event was marked by excitement, love, and unity as former classmates gathered to reconnect and give back to their alma mater.

The reunion brought together alumni from diverse professions, including politicians, medical doctors, lawyers, financial experts, IT specialists, business tycoons, petroleum marketers, and clerics. Some members in the diaspora also joined the celebration virtually via Zoom.

One of the event’s highlights was the presentation of scholarships worth ₦500,000 to 50 outstanding SS3 students. This generous gesture was aimed at supporting the education of these students and encouraging academic excellence.

In his address, Dr. Soliu Alabi, chairman of the organizing committee, expressed gratitude to the members for their financial and moral contributions, which made the event a memorable success.

He encouraged the old boys to continue their efforts in giving back to the school and fostering unity.

The school’s current Principal commended the old boys for their benevolence, stating that their actions will serve as a model for the current students.

This is the kind of spirit we want to instill in our students. I am confident that they will be inspired by this example and follow in the footsteps of their seniors,” he said.

The event also featured various games and networking opportunities, with attendees sharing fond memories and stories of their school days.

Participants praised the organizers for their efforts in making the reunion a resounding success.

Speaking with JustEventOnline TV, attendees applauded the unity and commitment of the old boys’ class of 1999, describing them as a closely-knit group dedicated to supporting one another and contributing to their community.
