Groups partner to campaign against drug abuse in Kwara

Damilola Sickle Cell Foundation in partnership with the National Association of Kwara State Students and Young Dream Impact Foundation have organized a one-day sensitization campaign for youths, Market women, and others at Ilorin the Kwara State Capital on Saturday to commemorate this year’s world day against drug abuse/illicit substances and trafficking

The campaign started at Unity road and stopped at Post Office in Ilorin

Speaking with JUST EVENT ONLINE, The Coordinator of Damilola Sickle Cell Foundation, Ms. Damilola Ajibade said the choice of the venue of the campaign was to best reach the students and parents who are primarily victims of drug abuse and consumption of illicit substances.

Speaking further, Damilola said Youths and students have found a way of embracing drugs and that can not bring forth a good generation

She added that drugs and substances that stimulate the human system also stimulate humans to act contrary to the way they are supposed to act.

Continuing, she urged parents and teachers to champion the drive of cultivating and educating children on the dangers of illicit substances and drug abuse from the infant stage.

The representative of Young Dream Impact Foundation, Ms. Halimat Ibrahim in her remark she said the abuse of drugs and the consumption of illicit substances are the key reasons behind cultism, prostitution, kidnapping, rape, robbery amongst other social vices in our society.

On his part Legal Adviser of NAKSS, Tajudeen Habbebullahi said association action has been campaigning against the misuse of drugs and alcohol, he commend Damilola foundation for the giant strides and promise to take the bull by its horn
