Group urges Gov AbdulRazaq to seek re-election in 2023 gubernatorial race

Talented youths in the entertainment industry in Kwara State, on Tuesday, urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to seek a second term in 2023.

The youths, under the aegis of Talented Kwara Youth Mobilization for AA, made the call during a press briefing held at the NUJ hall in Ilorin, the state capital.

The coordinator of the group, Ibrahim Abdullahi Paranti popularly known BabalawoGovernmentHouse, who extolled the governor’s leadership qualities as a hardworking, visionary, humble, and accommodating, said the group will commence consultations with eminent Kwarans within and outside the state in order for them to convince the governor to seek re-election in 2023.

He said the call for Gov AbdulRazaq to stand for re-election in 2023 had become necessary given the positive impact he has made across the state in less than three years.

Paranti further justified their encouragement to Governor AbdulRazaq because of “his maturity to preserve peace and tranquility in the state and the revival of economic and infrastructural growth after several years of neglect, his sensitivity to the masses’ plight”.

He said, “You will agree with me that Gov AbdulRazaq met a Kwara with all sectors in ruin and saw the need to restructure it, which he is doing currently. Evidence abounds in the education, health, agric, art, culture and tourism sector among several others.

“He is also a supporter of the youth. He’s credited with appointing the youngest commissioner in the history of Nigeria. This shows how much passion he has for young people. His administration’s youth-friendly policies and programmes in the state have brought the young ones together to chart a new course for their future.”

In the entertainment, Paranti said, “ The State’s Visual Arts Centre in Ilorin, which is under construction, when completed will serve as a genuine place for showcasing creativities and talent discoveries which will further enhance the economic growth and employment opportunities for the State’s teeming youths.

“We believe the Centre is one of the initiatives of the current administration aimed at transforming Kwara State into an international tourist destination and invariably leading to its historic and magnificent appearance in the world map of creative and visual Arts, with the implication of unprecedented huge revenue generation both to the State and the country at large.

“The initiative, we believe, will place Kwara State firmly on the global map of tourism development and make it one of the outstanding places in the creative and entertainment industry as well as create jobs for sustainable growth and development.”

He added that Governor AbdulRazaq needed a second term in office in order to sustain his ongoing infrastructural reformation and to ensure effective management of the state’s resources.

Paranti said, “It is on this note, we are demanding Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to recontest as governor in 2023, and we have also resolved to fund his electioneering should he accept the call.

“We call on every Kwaran – political elites, masses and religious leaders – to lend a voice to the demand for Governor AbdulRazaq to contest in 2023, as he has no other choice but to accept the call to render service to humanity. Let us all join this movement.”
