Kwara State Governor, AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman, has provided relief materials to victims of rainstorm in Ipee and Igbonna, Oyun Local Government Area. The gesture was aimed at alleviating the suffering of the affected communities.
During the handing over of the items, Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mallam Saadu Mashood Magaji, sympathized with the victims and explained that the Governor had directed the agency to visit the towns, assess the damage, and provide necessary support.
The relief materials included 150 bundles of roofing sheets and 50 packs of nails for each town. The Governor advised the leadership of the two towns to distribute the items judiciously to affected persons.
Speaking to Just Event Online TV, the Community leaders, including Engr Moshood Anifowoshe, President of Ipee Progressive Union, and Barr Salami Adeniyi, President of Igbonna Descendants Progressive Union, expressed their gratitude to the Governor for his prompt response to their plight.
The TIC Chairman of Oyun LGA, Dr Abdulwaheed Ibrahim, praised the Governor’s timely intervention, stating that it would bring relief to the affected communities.
The Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Ojo Olayiwola, charged the leadership of the two towns to ensure fairness and equity in distributing the items.
Traditional rulers, Oba Mufutau Adebayo Lawal (Onipe of Ipee) and Oba Abubakar Oloyede (Onigbonna of Igbonna), commended the Governor for his prompt response and urged him to continue supporting the affected communities.
