Renowned Kwara Central politician and Chairman of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Advisory Council, Barrister Kunle Suleiman, has once again declared his unwavering support for the 2027 governorship to be zoned to Kwara North.
He made this known during a courtesy visit by the Kwara North Youth Consultative Forum (KNYCF) at his Ilorin residence. The group, a leading voice advocating for power shift to Kwara North, was received warmly by the elder statesman.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Mallam AbduDayan A. Haruna, Chairman, KNYCF and Nura Muhammad, Publicity Secretary, KNYCF and made available to Just Event Online TV
Reiterating his earlier position, Barrister Suleiman described the push for a Kwara North governor as a matter of justice, equity, and fairness, emphasizing that it aligns with the political promise made by the current administration during Governor AbdulRazaq’s second-term campaign.
“If you consider the recent political history of our state: Abdulfatah Ahmed from Kwara South served eight years, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq from Kwara Central will, God willing, complete his eight years by 2027. It stands to reason that Kwara North should produce the next governor,” he said.
“It was an open and clear promise made during the campaign—that power would shift to Kwara North after the current governor’s tenure. It is our collective duty to ensure that this promise is fulfilled—not because it’s Kwara North, but because it is the right thing to do.”
Barrister Suleiman also commended the KNYCF for their sustained advocacy, urging them to intensify public engagement and build consensus across all senatorial districts.
In their remarks, KNYCF leaders expressed appreciation for Barrister Suleiman’s integrity and consistency. They praised his commitment to fairness and political inclusivity and pledged to continue championing the cause of Kwara North’s emergence in 2027.
