The Kwara State Government on Thursday distributed food items to transporters, market Women, and artisans in Ilorin, the state capital.
The palliatives, worth millions of Naira which include bags of rice, beans, Maize, Spaghetti, gallons of oils, Maggie, mat, blanket, mosquito net, and other valuable items were handed over to each organization’s representatives.
Speaking during the distribution, Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq who was represented by Hon Razaq Jiddah stated that the gesture was part of the government’s efforts to cushion the effects of the economic hardship in the state.
He promised that the government will continue to support the members of society and improve the lives of the people, He urged each organizations to distribute the palliative to the most vulnerable members.
Speaking with Just Event Online, Iyaloja General of Kwara state, Alhaja Risikat Akaje, expressed gratitude to the government for the gesture, she said the palliatives will go round to needy members
Speaking on behalf of transport workers in the State Chairman of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria RTEAN, Alhaji Abdulrahman Olayinka Onikijipa, appreciated the state government for coming to their aid at appropriate time, he assured that the palliatives will be shared judiciously
Speaking further, he urged the member who may not benefit from this batch to be patient and not not be discouraged, as more of it will still come as promised by the governor.
In his word, The Chairman of Kwara State Artisans Congress, Alhaji Jimoh Ayinla Adeshina, said the palliative is a welcome development and timely, he commended the governor for showing empathy to the masses
The distribution of food palliatives is one of the many ways in which the Kwara State Government is supporting its citizens during this difficult time. The government has also provided financial assistance to businesses and individuals.
