The Federal Road Safety Corps on Friday said it would deploy 21,783 personnel, 769 vehicles, 139 ambulances and 33 heavy, medium and light-duty tow trucks as part of its commitment towards ensuring a hitch-free election.
A statement by the corps spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, said the deployment was for the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for February 25.
The corps noted that it would work alongside other security agencies to ensure orderliness and timely delivery of election materials.
In his pre-election directives, the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, told officers to screen and accredit vehicles hired by the Independent National Electoral Commission to convey election materials.
He also directed commanding officers to ensure that patrol and other operational vehicles were promptly deployed and monitored all through the duration of the exercise.
