The Future Positive Impact Initiative (FPII) , Kwara State chapter warmly applauds the Supreme Court of Nigeria’s landmark judgment affirming the autonomy of Local Governments across the nation.

This decision, endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards true federalism and grassroots governance.

In a press statement signed by Comr. Ahmad El-Rufai, PRO FPII Chapter and obtained by Just Event Online TV ,The judgment recognizes the critical role Local Governments play in delivering essential services and promoting democratic principles at the grassroots level.

By affirming their autonomy, the Supreme Court has paved the way for more responsive and responsible local governance, tailored to meet the unique needs of local communities.

FPII commends President Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to decentralization and strengthening local institutions. We urge all stakeholders to support the implementation of this judgment and collaborate towards building stronger, self-reliant local governments that can effectively address the needs of their constituencies.

As an organization dedicated to driving positive change and development, FPII remains committed to advocating for policies and initiatives that empower local authorities and promote inclusive governance. We believe that this judgment will facilitate more effective and accountable governance at the local level, leading to improved socio-economic outcomes for Nigerian citizens.

Let us work together to harness this momentum and ensure that local leaders are held accountable for development, rather than relying on distant authorities.
