Sequel to the retirement of Compt. KD Ilesanmi, the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Wale Adeniyi MFR has approved the deployment of Compt. FM Ojeifo as the new Customs Area Controller to oversee the affairs of Kwara Command.
According to a statement obtained by Just Event Online TV on Wednesday which made available by the Command Public Relations Officer, Chado Zakari anipr, Compt. FM Ojeifo transferred from Customs Headquarters, Abuja.
During handing over ceremony held on Tuesday at the Command Headquarters, Ilorin, the outgoing controller, Compt. Ilesanmi appealed to officers and men of the Command to extend the same support and cooperation he enjoyed to his successor.
He thanked the Comptroller General of Customs and the management team for the opportunity to serve as Area Controller. He urged officers to accord the incoming controller maximum support to effectively discharge the new responsibility bestowed upon him. He prayed for God’s guidance and intervention for successful tenure.
Compt. Ojeifo said his intention is to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor and urged that he would need nothing less than 300% support for him to succeed. According to him, we have to intensify our efforts to surpass Command revenue target for the year 2024 and to equally suppress smuggling activities to the barest minimum.
The new Customs Area Controller impelled officers to imbibe the culture of transparency and professionalism while discharging their responsibilities. He also warned that any act of negative conduct among officers would not be tolerated and assured to work assiduously towards consolidating the feat attained by his predecessor.
He boss reiterated that, the Federal Government fiscal policy on border closure is still in forced and Kwara land border is not exceptional. The task to effectively secure our land borders remains his utmost priority.
Finally, Compt. Ojeifo solicits maximum cooperation, support and collaboration with security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders and other relevant Stakeholders to partner with the service in sharing intelligence gathering for combating smuggling activities and other trans-border crimes.
