It was a day of joy and celebration in Ilesha-Baruba as the first batch of Kwara State University (KWASU) students and staff arrived at the newly completed campus. Excited residents trooped out in large numbers to welcome them with smiles, music, and open arms.

Just Event Online TV reports, The arriving students — from the Faculty of Agriculture — include those in 200, 300, and 500 levels across departments such as Animal Production, Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Crop Production. Their arrival marks the official take-off of academic activities at the Ilesha-Baruba campus, signaling a new dawn for both the university and the host community.

Local youth groups, security personnel, and volunteers ensured the smooth coordination of the reception, while community leaders described the moment as historic and long-awaited.

Speaking during the warm reception, residents expressed optimism that the presence of KWASU in Ilesha-Baruba will boost local businesses, create jobs, and expand educational access for young people in the region.

The new campus is already equipped with modern facilities, including furnished hostels, staff quarters, steady water and electricity supply, and adequate security presence to guarantee the safety and comfort of students and staff.

For many in Ilesha-Baruba, the arrival of KWASU’s first batch of students represents more than an academic milestone — it is a symbol of progress, growth, and renewed hope for the entire Baruten community.
