The Federal Government and United Nations are finding lasting solutions to Nigeria’s humanitarian crisis.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, said the global organisation had expressed satisfaction with government’s willingness to adopt a coordinated approach to the challenge.

At a meeting with a delegation, led by Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Solutions to Internal Displacement, Robert Piper, the minister submitted that operating in silos would not yield the desired result.

“There is need for a coordinated approach in line with government’s vision. Humanitarian crisis is a big challenge. I just returned from Niger, and I have been to Borno. The challenges there are huge. Benue is even more pressing. More needs to be done to support Nigeria,” she said in a statement issued by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Zubair.

Earlier, Piper said a unified approach was best way to find durable solutions to the multi-dimensional humanitarian challenges facing the country.
