Female Yellow Greens set for W’Cup qualifiers
Nigeria’s senior women’s cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, are eager to pick up a first-ever World Cup ticket as they compete in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in Uganda.
Hostilities begin on Sunday at the Entebbe Cricket Oval as the top two teams wadvance to the tournament in UAE and Bangladesh.
The Nigerian team departed for Uganda on Thursday, ahead of their first game against Namibia on Sunday.
After weeks of camping at the high-performance centre in Benin City, Edo State, the Nigeria Cricket Federation released the final roster for the tournament on Wednesday, with experienced captain Blessing Etim leading the team for a first World Cup spot.
Nigeria are in Group B of the qualifying series alongside Namibia, hosts Uganda and arch rivals Rwanda. Group A teams are Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Botswana.
The semi-final matches are scheduled for Saturday December 17, while the final will follow Sunday December 18.
