A Quantity Surveying graduate from the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Siyanbola Pelumi Damilola won Four Hundred Thousand Naira Accespreneur contest at the National Youths Service Corps Orientation Camp in Akwa Ibom State.
Siyanbola emerged as the 2nd runner-up in a tight contest with other participants from other institutions.
Giving details about the competition, he said he was selected as one of the participants to submit a business proposal for defense after which the winner and runner-ups will be granted a start-up grant.
“It was a remarkable moment when we were told about the grant, I took the bold step to take advantage of the opportunity, and after presenting my proposal on catfish farming, I came third and won a take-home grant of Four Hundred Thousand ( 400,000) to finance my business proposal. Although the activities in the camp made the process a little bit tedious because of the time required to come up with a comprehensive business proposal. But thank God for the experience I had during the Entrepreneurship Development classes at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, those experiences were a blessing to me and also made me understand the fact that one can achieve anything with God’s intervention,” he said.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru in his reaction felicitates all beneficiaries of Access Bank’s business plan contest who graduated from the Polytechnic, he stated that the Federal Polytechnic Offa graduates are known for academic excellence with productive entrepreneurial skills.
While congratulating the Quantity Surveying Department and Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the Polytechnic, the Rector urged all beneficiaries to utilize the grant judiciously and channel it towards achieving their set goals and objectives.
