ESSENTIALS OF GBENGA POWER (7)

My mother who is an octogenarian, never hesitate to narrate how the first republic politicians work passionately not about amazing wealth for themselves and their associates, but how to make the country a place of pride.

Due to the opportunity she had in acquiring western education, my mother gives stage by stage account about the personalities of great politicians such as Obafemi Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Joseph Tarka, Samuel Akintola, Ahman Patigi, Margaret Ekpo, Gambo Sawaba including our dearest father, J.S Olawoyin.

What these great men and women have in common is ideology and commitment.

Since the return of Nigeria to democracy in 1999, we have witnessed series of defection by politicians who can not even remember how many times they have moved from one political party to another, just for their selfish reasons.

I am not a Prophet, neither can I see tomorrow, however I can confidently say for Nigerians to take a paradigm from mediocre governance to a purposeful one, *it is time to stop voting for candidates because of political parties*.

This is because many people have been voted into office in the past with little or nothing to offer. In the word of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State “Accidental Public Servant”.

A situation where someone came to power without any clue of government simply because he/she is in a popular political party is not.a healthy development for the economy.

It is on this note that I implored the great and wonderful people of Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency to vote massively for Oyekunle-Power as their representative at the green chamber hallowed chamber.

I have listened with wrap attention and laughed how some candidates are trying to smuggled themselves into the green hallowed chamber, having observed the massive acceptance of Gbenga Power by the good people of Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, as usual they took to what I have decided to tag ” Campaign of Confusion “.

One of them was even talking as if the National Assembly is a house of torture for anyone elected outside the platform of either APC or PDP, For crying out loud, this is far from the truth!

The records are there for those who care to know, being elected into the state or federal legislature is a call to duty by the constituents and to perform below or beyond expectations is about individual psyche and not about belonging to a particular political party or not.

If we are to go by pedigree and acceptability of the masses in Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, Gbenga Oyekunle-Power is way ahead of others and it is in view of the African that am calling on my kinsmen in Offa Local Government to cast their votes for this wonderful philanthropist. As for the people of Oyun, my instinct tells me that they will toll the path of justice and equity having occupied the seat in almost 4 years now.

The ball is now on the court of the IFELODUNS..there is this Yoruba proverb that “OMO ENI KONI SE IDI BEBERE KAFI ILEKE SI IDI OMO ELOMIRAN” meaning no matter the posture of your child, you can’t afford to wear a good costume for another person’s child!

The election day is fast approaching, get your PVCs ready and shun voting based on political parties but PERSONALITY!

Please keep your fingers crossed 🤞
