Ese Brume ranked fifth best world athlete in women’s long jump

World Silver medallist and Commonwealth Games long jump champion and record holder, Ese Brume, has retained her status as the fifth best ranked athlete in the women’s long jump event.

Brume, who finished fourth in the long jump final at the recently concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, is behind reigning World Indoor and Oudoor champion, Ivana Vuleta of Serbia, USA duo of Tara Davis-Woodhall (second) and Quanesha Burks (fourth) as well as Italian, Larissa Iapichino (third).

Brume, has, however, dropped eight places in the latest overall women’s weekly world rankings just released by World Athletics.

The Delta State-born jumper was ranked 142nd last week after moving up 81 places from her 223rd ranking the previous week after jumping 6.84m to place fourth at the 19th World Athletics Championships in Budapest. The African record holder has now dropped to 150th in the overall women’s ranking.
