Engr. Taofik Abdulkareem emerges Kwara chairman of Nigeria Computer Society

 

Computer expert Engineer Taofik Abdulkareem of Plat Technologies has emerged Kwara State chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).

At an event on Monday, the national leadership of the NCS inaugurated Abdulkareem alongside members of the new Executive Council for the Kwara State Branch.

It was gathered that the inauguration ceremony was held both virtually and physically at the Kwara State University (KWASU) Centre for Digital Economy. It was coordinated by NCS Deputy National President Dr Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu who administered the oath of office to the new Branch Chairman Engineer Taofik Abdulkareem who thereafter administered the oath of office to other members of the State Executive Branch of the Society.

In his remarks, the National President of NCS Prof. Adesina Simon Sodiya congratulated the new executive members and urged them to promote the deepening of ICT skills and utilisation as the policy thrust of NCS. He also admonished them to be diligent, and transparent and to place the interest of Society above personal interests.

Other newly inaugurated executive members include Dr Amos Bajeh Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences University of Ilorin as the Vice Chairman; Dr James Ayeni of Kwara Polytechnic Ilorin as the Secretary; Dr Mrs Jumoke F. Ajao, Department of Computer Science KWASU as the Treasurer; Mrs Rachael Obisesan from College of Education (COED) Ilorin as the Financial Secretary; Mr Taofik Ahmed from College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) Ilorin as the PRO I and Dr Mrs Shururat Olatinwo from the Federal Polytechnic Offa (Fedpoffa) as the PRO II.

In his inaugural address, the new chairman indicated his readiness to map out plans to engage all stakeholders in deepening ICT usage. He promised that the executive under his leadership would actively engage the Kwara State Government on policy directions and advance the cause of members in the academia, public service and the industry as well as engage students across training institutions.

The event was also attended by the Zonal Coordinator (North Central) Mr Bayo Mohammed Onimode, immediate past Chairman, of Kwara State Council, Mallam Abdulkadir Bolakale Sakariyah, members of the previous executives and members from the academia, public service and industry.
