In a strong gesture of compassion and community support, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi has paid tribute to the gallant vigilante operatives in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State for their courage and sacrifice during a recent rescue operation that led to the release of kidnapped victims.
The operation, which saw the vigilantes confront armed kidnappers, ended successfully but not without casualties, as some members sustained injuries while others lost their lives in the line of duty.
Engr. Adeyemi described their action as “a profound demonstration of selflessness, community spirit, and commitment to public safety.” He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and prayed for the speedy recovery of those receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti.
In fulfillment of his commitment to supporting the security framework of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Engr. Adeyemi made monetary donations to the injured vigilante operatives and the families of the deceased.
“While money can never replace the lives or well-being lost in the line of duty, this gesture is a token of appreciation and reassurance that their sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” Adeyemi said. “Our security operatives put their lives on the line daily to keep our communities safe. It is only right that we stand by them and their families in times like this.”
He also commended the Executive Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Council, Hon. Awelewa Olawale, for his swift intervention and compassionate visit to the injured officers, as well as his decision to place all vigilante members under an insurance policy—a move Adeyemi described as visionary and worthy of emulation across other local councils.
Reaffirming his commitment to community safety, Engr. Adeyemi pledged continued support for all initiatives aimed at strengthening local security frameworks, promoting peace, and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Kwara South and the entire state.
He further lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his steadfast leadership in improving the state’s security landscape, noting that the Governor’s collaboration with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, led to the full deployment of the Nigerian Military to combat and flush out criminal elements — a move that has restored stability and peace in Kwara South and across the state.
