Stakeholders across Kwara State and the North Central zone have lauded Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, the North Central representative on the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), for his pivotal role in securing a N2 billion Special High Impact Project (SHIP) intervention for the College of Education, Oro.
The landmark intervention, aimed at transforming teacher education and bolstering academic infrastructure, forms part of TETFund’s broader strategy to elevate tertiary institutions nationwide. The allocation will provide the college with modern infrastructure, upgraded teaching facilities, and enhanced institutional capacity to meet contemporary educational standards.
Local education advocates described the intervention as the result of “purposeful leadership and effective representation,” emphasizing that Engr. Adeyemi has brought “unprecedented visibility and results” to the region since his appointment to the Board in August 2024.
“This intervention speaks volumes about what can be achieved when competence and commitment meet opportunity,” a statement from community stakeholders read.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State also received special commendation for his role in supporting Engr. Adeyemi’s appointment. Stakeholders hailed the Governor’s foresight in endorsing a technocrat with a deep understanding of grassroots needs, noting that “the results speak for themselves.”
Engr. Adeyemi’s impact on tertiary education across the North Central region is further evidenced by recent TETFund allocations, including:
N4 billion to the University of Ilorin for institutional upgrades,
N750 million for hostel development,
Nearly N2.5 billion for a cutting-edge Medical Simulation Laboratory,
And significant interventions at the University of Jos, Benue State University, and other institutions.
These disbursements align with the Federal Government’s strategic agenda to revamp Nigeria’s education and healthcare training landscape, curbing brain drain and enhancing global competitiveness.
Commendations were also extended to the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, for their leadership. The operational direction of TETFund continues to thrive under the guidance of Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Executive Secretary Arc. Sonny Echono.
