Engineering practice has been described as a dynamic and multifaceted field that plays an important role in shaping the present and future of societies.
This was said on Wednesday by Director (Engineering), National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), Engr. Dr. Olusola Adetola Ogunjirin FNSE, FNIAE while delivering lecture on the topic, The Current World: Challenges and Opportunities for Engineers at the Graduate Membership Induction Ceremony of the 2023 graduating students of University of Ilorin.
Just Event Online reports ,The induction ceremony which was held at the school main Campus was organized by the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Ilorin Branch.
Engr. Olusola the role of Engineers in any developed country cannot be under-estimated because they are innovators and problem solvers.
He said Engineers contribute significantly to technological advancements, economic development and the well-being of communities.
He highlighted the role of govt in supporting Engineering practice in Nigeria to include; Education and skill development, public-private partnership, education and skill development, disaster preparedness and management, among others.
He harped on self development, as he urged the inductees to work in-line with the ethics of the profession.
Earlier in his goodwill message, President of NSE, Engr. Tasiu Saad Gidari-Wudil FNSE ably represented by the Vice president, Engr. Joseph Sunday Adebayo urged the inductees to not rely on paid job, rather, they should do something reasonable and meaningful that will better their lives and that of others.
He enjoined them to always comply with the standards for them to be able to move forward.
Speaking with Just Event Online TV shortly after the induction, the best graduating student (Mechanical), Ayanlade Joshua Iyanuoluwa enjoined his fellow inductees to have vision and work towards achieving positive results. He added that they should work towards projecting the positive image of Engineering profession in all aspects.
The event witnessed presentation of award of excellence to the best graduating students and leadership awards to the departmental presidents for their outstanding leadership qualities and performances.
