The Ilorin Emirates Stakeholders Forum has extended financial support to no fewer than 600 people drawn from the underprivileged sections of the five local government areas that constitute the Emirate city of Ilorin.
The generous gesture which is intended to bring succour to the people was informed by the need to cushion the effects of the economic hardship in the bid to improve the living conditions and ultimately aid spiritual reinforcement in this holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement made available to Just Event Online TV on Thursday by Bolaji Aladie Publicity Secretary, Emirates Stakeholders Forum
Ilorin Emirate Stakeholders Forum is a conglomerate of patriotic members of the Ilorin community contributing to the development of the community through various socio-economic intervention programs.
The monetary support came in both physical currency and cash transfers to ensure the adoption of the most appropriate modality that guarantees the dignity of choice.
Speaking on the intervention, the Chairman of the Committee that handled the project, Prof. Abubakar Imam-Aliagan said the gesture was in fulfilment of the social intervention objective of the forum which he said became imperative at this critical time when people have been subjected to hardship occasioned by the cash scarcity.
“We feel compelled by the spirit of this holy month to extend support to the less-privileged sections of our society. This is particularly imperative at the moment when the economic hardship occasioned by the protracted cash crunch has caused inconveniences and damage to many businesses.
” It is hoped this modest intervention will help address the basic need and improve your socio-economic well-being. While we assure you of our consistent support, we urge you to remain undeterred and never be intimidated by whatever circumstances to give in to despair. ”
The president of the Forum, Engr. Tunji Ahmed whilst appreciating the members for making the project a reality through their generous donations, reiterates the commitment of the forum to implementing poverty alleviation initiatives to improve the circumstances of life and better the lots of the people.
The beneficiaries took turns to appreciate what was described as a timely gesture, praying that the leadership of the forum be rewarded in abundance
