Electrical Engineers Urged to Prioritize Medical Check-Ups

A call has been made to electrical engineers in Ilorin and beyond to prioritize medical check-ups to live a healthy and joyous life.

Dr. Aribidesi Stephen, a member of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Ilorin chapter, made the call during the 2024 Nigerian Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (NIEEE) Family Get Together, held on Tuesday at the Branch Engineering Center, Tanke, Ilorin.

Dr. Stephen emphasized the importance of regular medical check-ups and screening, stating that it can help members of the professional body live long and healthy lives.

He revealed that during the 2023 medical check-ups, some members were diagnosed with health issues and received treatment.
This year’s event included eye check-ups, and the results will be made available to the participants.

He urged engineers to prioritize their mental, physical, and social well-being, stating that it is essential for them to serve the society and country well.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Chairman of NIEEE Ilorin Chapter, Engr. Femi Abidoye, thanked the members for their support and contributions to the engineering profession.

He highlighted the achievements of his administration, including the installation of solar street lights in communities without access to the national grid and scholarships awarded to electrical and electronics engineering students.

He encouraged members to continue setting the pace in their respective workplaces and living in peace and harmony.

The event featured a quiz competition, networking opportunities, health talk, and food and drinks.

Participants in the quiz won prizes, and some financial members participated in a raffle draw, winning electronic gadgets such as solar light, hot plate, blender, and fan
