Electric Vehicles conversion : SSA Transport, Orire commends KWASU, Says Kwara Express can now compete globally


The Kwara State government through the office of Senior Special Assistant on Tansport to Kwara Governor , Mallam Orire Olarewaju Ibrahim has applauded the efforts of the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh over the plan to convert grounded Kwara Express buses into electric vehicles.

This was contained  in a statement made available to Just Event Online TV by media aide to SSA

He said the initiative aligns with the state’s commitment to embracing sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, he said when the conversion of damaged vehicles completed it will shape the activities of Kwara Express and will put them in the world map


It will be recalled on Thursday KWASU delegation led by Ag VC visited Kwara Express premises to inspect their damaged and abandoned vehicles that be converted to electric power

Mr. Orire said “Electric vehicles offer a significant advantage by producing lower carbon dioxide emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment as we move away from fossil fuels.”

He said beyond environmental benefits, the switch to electric vehicles also presents economic advantages. “Electric vehicles are considerably cheaper to maintain compared to traditional gasoline-powered models,” Mr. Orire explained.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration has expressed its strong support for this initiative and welcomes further collaboration with individuals and institutions seeking to improve the state’s transportation sector.

He also disclosed that it aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, which focuses on taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
