Ekweremadu :Obasanjo writes UK Court, begs for mercy

 

Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has written a letter to the Chief Clerk, The Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey to considerably intervene and appeal to the court and government of the United Kingdom to temper justice with mercy over arraignment of Ike Ekweremadu and his wife on the allegations of organ trafficking

Ekweremadu and wife had earlier arraigned for organ trafficking in the United Kingdom

In a letter dated April 3, 2023, Obasanjo described Ekweremadu as a God fearing Nigerian who has played visible roles in national development.

Obasanjo however pleaded for the sake of the relations between United Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, his daughter whose health is in danger and requires urgent medical attention, and for being a distinguished Senator in the Nigerian Parliament to temper the justice with mercy and let punishment that may have to come take their good character and parental instincts and care into consideration.
