Eight states, FCT report 52 new COVID-19 cases

Eight states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 52 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, according to figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday.

No additional COVID-19 related death was recorded by the agency.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Tuesday.

Cross River recorded the highest number of new infections with 13 cases followed by Lagos – 12, Enugu – 8, Plateau -7, Rivers – 5, FCT – 3, Bauchi – 2, Abia – 1 and Kano – 1.

The health agency said the 52 new COVID-19 infections have

brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 212,765.

However, 204,261 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With no COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus remains 2,906, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations

Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
