In what was described as a landmark political gathering, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Edu Local Government — including elected officials, appointees, and party executives — have united to rally behind Alhaji Tajudeen Audu, popularly known as *Makama Lafiagi*, as he formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.
The declaration, which took place over the weekend, followed extensive consultations with political and community leaders across the state.
In his remarks, Makama commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for his proactive leadership, especially in the areas of security and infrastructural development. He also lauded the Executive Chairman of Edu Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro, for his exemplary leadership and steadfastness in maintaining peace and progress in the area.
Addressing the gathering, the APC chieftain and chartered accountant emphasized key issues discussed during the stakeholders’ meeting at his residence — including insecurity, infrastructural development, intra-party cohesion, voter education, and the way forward for the party. He reiterated his readiness to serve and his commitment to advancing unity and prosperity in Kwara State.
Makama expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their consistent support, promising inclusive leadership that would harness collective wisdom for sustainable progress.
The meeting was attended by several dignitaries, including the Edu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello Ndamangoro; the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Jibril Saba; the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Shehu Ndanusa Usman; and the member representing Edu Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Gideon Saba. Others present were APC Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Kudu Dumagi; Hon. Sulyman Belle (SA, Small-Scale Farming); Edu LGA Development Officer, Hon. Haruna Likpata; as well as prominent community and traditional leaders such as Elder Paul Zhiri, Alh. Dele Sekiwa (Village Head of Manuga), and Alh. Abdullahi Pata (Wokilin Shonga).
In a related development, the *Nupe Descendant Union (NDU)* under the leadership of Alhaji S. S. Mohammed, also declared its support for Makama Lafiagi, describing him as a man of integrity, intellect, and God-fearing leadership. The union pledged to mobilize massive support for his aspiration across all Nupe-speaking communities in the state and beyond.
In appreciation, Makama made a generous donation to support the union’s ongoing activities. The gathering ended with a unanimous endorsement from clerics, youth, women, and community leaders, who described Makama’s declaration as a beacon of hope for a more united and prosperous Kwara State ahead of 2027.
