A non-governmental organization, De-pals Care Foundation on Saturday organized a Social Peers hangout for aged people of 60 years and above
The event which was held at De-pals Wellness and Activities Center, Coca-Cola road, opposite Babaode Central Mosque Ilorin was attended by both men and women of the said age
The foundation is saddled with the responsibility of offering friendship, help and support for the aged, home care & management, medical control, nutrition assistance, post-hospital care, leisure & recreational activities, adult literacy class, among others
The event witnessed excercise, games, movies, music among others.
Speaking with just event online shortly after the event, the founder, Hajia Asmau Bimpe Yusuf who is also a trained accountant noted the program is organized due to passion the foundation have for the aged, positing that they are often been neglected.
She asserted that culture and heritage is lost if the elderly ones are neglected.
Hajia Asmau harped on the importance of nurturing the aged ones and ensure they live a healthy and happy live.
“We lose our culture and heritage if we refuse to take care of our elderly people”.
She however called for assistance and partnership with individuals, NGOs, corporate bodies as well as government inorder to touch lives of more people.
The participants in their separate interviews commended the organizers for a job well done
They urged others to emulate the good gesture as they solicited for support well meaning Nigerians.
