Daily Trust Foundation begins Training on Investigative Reporting for Female Journalists

As part of efforts to broaden the knowledge of female journalists in Nigeria and ensure effective Investigative reportage, Daily Trust Foundation with the support of Macarthur Foundation on Monday, begins training on Investigative Reporting for Female Journalists across the North-Central.

Female journalists from various platforms; Print , broadcast and Online medium gathered at the Daily Trust Foundation Training Hall, 20, POW Mafemi Crescent, Behind Chida Hotel, Utako, FCT Abuja.

Investigation Editor of Daily Trust and award winning Journalist, Lami Sadiq, took the participants through Investigative Reporting & Qualities of an Investigative Journalist.

She charged the reporters to not take information for granted.

Positing that an Investigative Journalist uphold the responsibility and accountability of the govt to the people, Lami said journalism as information dissemination alone is not enough.

Just Event Online TV reports, that the training witnessed screening of documentary of Abuja’s Organ Trade Black Market, calling on govt to curb it, in order to avoid or prevent unforeseen diseases in the nearest future.

Making a comparison between Investigative Journalism and other forms of Reporting, Dr. Suleiman Suleiman, described IJ as an indepth reporting about public affairs which involves wrongdoings, failure, social problems which is brought to light by Journalist.

He equally called for more inclusiveness of women investigative Journalist in Nigeria.

The training which started on Monday Feb 5 will end on Wednesday Feb 8, 2024.
