The Nigeria Customs Service has assured its retirees that the service is working on comprehensive measures to elevate their welfare with a plan to integrate them into the NCS’s healthcare programmes.
The Comptroller-General, NCS, Adewale Adeniyi, in a statement issued on Sunday by the National Public Relations Officer of the service, Abdullahi Maiwada, said this when he hosted retired management team members of the NCS in Abuja on Saturday.
Adeniyi emphasised his commitment to sustaining bonds beyond active service.
He disclosed that there is an ongoing discussion with the Minister of Finance to champion a bill establishing a dedicated pension scheme.
He reiterated the wealth of knowledge in the gathering and the need to strengthen the roots connecting the past, present, and future of the service.
The Customs boss said there is a need to craft customised programmes for seamless collaboration, ensuring the service continues to benefit from their expertise.
He described the gathering as a definitive avenue for connecting with successful leaders who have played pivotal roles in shaping the organisation.
The CGC expressed confidence that their coming together would contribute to greater efficiency, enhanced regulatory compliance and stable economic development goals for the country.
