Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria customs service has intercepted two containers loaded with prohibited Tramadol pharmaceutical products.
The containers were said to have been brought from India.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Auwal Baba said on Friday that the drugs were uncovered based on suspicion when no importer or clearing agent had shown up to clear the containers.
He said that about 7000 tablets have so far been counted out of the two containers, adding that counting is still ongoing.
The customs chief said the command would continue to ensure adequate security of the port and prevent unlawful importation of harmful drugs into the country.
