The Nigeria Customs Service, on Wednesday, declared that it was intensifying its collaboration with the Department of State Services to combat smuggling and its adverse effects, as well as halt arms proliferation nationwide.
The acting Comptroller-General, Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed this when he paid a familiarisation visit to the Director-General, DSS, Yusuf Bichi, at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the NCS.
Adeniyi said maintaining mutual partnership between the two agencies would go a long way in enhancing national security.
On his part, Bichi commended the Customs boss for his resilience in the running of the NCS since his appointment.
The DSS DG affirmed that “teamwork is the basis for success in the fight against insecurity as no agency can do it alone.”
He noted that sustaining the NCS-DSS synergy would be a game changer in the counter-threat actions across border areas, pledging that his office would continue to provide intelligence to Customs to aid its performance.
