Kwara State Chairman of Road Transport Employer Association of Nigeria RTEAN, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olayinka Onikijipa has urged federal government to find lasting solution to exchange rate and way to save naira losing value, also chraged government to established bank of transportation that will cater for welfare of commercial transport workers ranging from commercial road users, aviation sector, waterways and railway
Alhaji Onikijipa made the call during his interview with JUST EVENT ONLINE on our weekly program tagged “Lawujo Wa ” means our society
While responding to questions from anchor of the program Muyideen Mustapha,
Onikijipa said RTEAN was formed in 1978 by five different association which makes it the most populous and recognized group in the nation, he said members of the association Ire well discipline and professionals
Noting that before anyone could join the association he/she must acquire some skills and certificate in driving school, we are working hard on how to digitize our sector so passengers can book online from their living room without any stress , he said.
Furthermore, Alhaji Onikijipa said as the association is one of critical stakeholders in the state and nation, Federal Government should look inward on establishment of Bank of Transportation, like they did for Industry and Agriculture sector
Creating Bank of Transportation will reduce poverty level in the sector and will also give room for more professional act
In the same vein, Alhaji Onikijipa also enjoins federal government to find possible means to exchange rate and way to save naira losing value, he states that exchange rate is affecting importation of cars
