14 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 166 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to figures released on Thursday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
The agency also reported two additional COVID-19 related deaths. The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Thursday.
Delta recorded the highest numbers of new infections with 36 cases, followed by FCT – 22, Rivers – 21, Lagos – 20, Anambra – 18, Ondo – 17, Oyo – 8, Kebbi – 6, Enugu – 5, Plateau – 5, Ebonyi – 3, Kano – 2 with Bayelsa, Ekiti and Jigawa reporting a single case each.
The health agency said the 166 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 211,496.
However, 202,930 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With two COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,886, the NCDC said.
It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities
