COVID-19: NCDC logs 228 infections, no fatalities Sunday

Nigeria has recorded no fatality from the coronavirus pandemic on Sunday, with 228 fresh infections reported across 13 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), in an update shared on its Facebook page Sunday night, said the country’s fatality toll from the disease now stands at 3,124.

NCDC added that the latest figure of confirmed cases has increased Nigeria’s infection toll to 252,187, while 226, 408 has been successfully treated and discharged across the federation

The centre also noted that the latest figure included backlogs of confirmed cases from the FCT, Taraba and Borno with 110, 90 and 2 respectively for January 21, 22,and 23, 2022.

It added that the FCT reported 10 discharged cases, including 308 community discharges for January 23 and 23, 2022.

The breakdown of the NCDC data revealed that Gombe State reported 38 cases, coming after the FCT with 110 and ahead of Lagos State with 32 cases.

The data also shows that Osun State reported 14 cases, and followed by Taraba with 12, while Imo and Kaduna states reported 5 cases each.

Rivers state reported five, Borno and Kano states submitted two cases each.

Bauchi, Delta, Ekiti and Ogun states reported a single case

The NCDC also noted that three states: Edu, Ondo and Sokoto reported recorded no cases on Sunday.
