Cooking gas price rises by 44.5% in one year — NBS

The average retail price for refilling a 12.5 kg cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (cooking gas) in Nigeria rose by 44.51% year-on-year in July 2025.

The National Bureau of Statistics revealed this in its latest Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Price Watch Report for July 2025, published on Tuesday.

According to the report, the cost of a 12.5 kg cylinder of cooking gas rose from N14,261.57 in July 2024 to N20,609.48 in July 2025, a sharp increase in energy expenses for Nigerian households
