Constitution Review: Senate suspends electronic scoreboard for voting
The Senate on Tuesday suspended the use of the electronic board in recording votes for various amendments to the Constitution.
Ahmed Lawan, Senate President announced the suspension following the malfunction of the board.
His suggestion that the voting be done manually was however opposed by some Senators.
He said that was no guarantee that the board will be functioning if the voting is postponed till Wednesday.
Senator James Manager said the development will rub off on the integrity of the process following the Senate President’s plea that Senators should trust him to be transparent in announcing the results of the manual voting.
Lawan however announced that the preponderance of opinion is for the Senate to go ahead with the voting despite the malfunctioning of the Electronic score board
