Enyimba chairman, Felix Anyasi-Agwu, says the club will protest the decision of the Confederation of African Football to have their rescheduled Confederation Cup first leg playoff match against Al Ittihad played in Libya later this month.
CAF on Monday in a statement sent to both clubs after its meeting with the body’s Interclub Committee stated that the rescheduled match would be played between December 17 and 19 in Benghazi, Libya.
Al Ittihad had written to CAF to have the first leg ruled in their favour, but their request was not granted and have been given till December 10 to fix the exact date for the rescheduled game, the kick-off time and other logistics needed.
The first leg fixture which was initially scheduled for November 28 at the Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet in Monastir, Tunisia, was postponed after players and officials of Enyimba were denied entry into the country due to strict COVID-19 protocols.
Speaking to our correspondent on CAF’S decision to replay the game in Libya, Anyasi-Agwu said the decision was biased and not in favour of the Nigerian side who will have to cover the expenses of travelling for a second time for the match
