The Coalition of Nigerian Youths (CON-YOUTHS) has called for a synergy with the Nigerian police force Kwara Command to address security challenges in the state.
The group is concerned about the increasing rate of insecurity in Kwara state, which has been affecting the lives of residents and businesses. They have identified several causes of insecurity in the state, including ethno-religious conflicts, drug abuse and trafficking, weak security system, illiteracy, unemployment/poverty, and systemic political corruption.
CON-YOUTHS has proposed several strategies to curb the menace, including organizing symposia, public lectures, and talk shows to enlighten the general public on the dangers of such practices; engaging in radio programs to educate a larger audience on the implications of insecurity on national security; and collaborating with security agencies to eliminate child labor/trafficking in Kwara State.
The group is also embarking on a serious public campaign and awareness on drugs abuse and trafficking; collaborating with relevant agencies to curb the menace; writing to the government and affected communities for appropriate action; engaging schools and organizing radio programs for the sensitization of the general public; and requesting frequent patrol and checkpoint searches from the police.
CON-YOUTHS believes that by working together, the Nigerian police force Kwara Command and the community can address the security challenges in Kwara state and create a safe and secure environment for all.
The group has also called on the government to formulate and effectively implement policies and programs capable of addressing the root causes of insecurity in the state.
CON-YOUTHS is committed to working with the Nigerian police force Kwara Command and other stakeholders to make Kwara state a safe and secure place to live, work, and invest.
In response to the group, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya Appciaciate the CON-YOUTHS for the effort in promoting peace and promised to work with them in securing the state, also specially appreciate their partnership with Police and ensure them a smooth collaboration with the youth as a key stakeholders to positive changes.
